The Met Office announced this morning that gusts reached up to 98mph in Northumberland overnight.


A yellow weather warning for wind is currently in place until 6pm tonight for the majority of the UK.



Environment agency posted on Twitter this morning.


Strong winds causing high waves will continue along the North East and Yorkshire coastline today.


Avoid promenades and take extra care on coastal routes.
