Things are heating up in the kitchen this week for our SuperNova award

Or so The People's Kitchen Stephen Dixon is hoping after spending a night out sleeping on the cold streets of Newcastle to raise funds for the amazing Newcastle based food charity.

Stephen spent 12 cold hours on the streets of Newcastle on Halloween and told his JustGiving supporters he was sleeping on the streets of Newcastle for The People's Kitchen because they do amazing work.

And also for the first time this week since the start of the pandemic, The People's Kitchen has welcomed customers back through its homely doors.

The charity, which has been running in the city for more than 35 years, has been operating a street service for people in need since the start of the health crisis last year when restrictions forced the kitchen to close its doors.

But now volunteers have been able to welcome 'friends' back into the warmth of its revamped dining hall for the first time in around 20 months.

We want to say congratulations to The People's Kitchen and Stephen Dixon for his fundraising efforts and this week we are proud to announce you as our SuperNovas!

Well done. If you want to donate to Stephen's cause please check out his fundraising page here

🎗We just wanted to say thank you for supporting your 100 % local community station and media group. We are the only community interest media company that is run by local people for local people. We aren't owned by a national plc group and we are so incredibly proud of that. But with that comes a bigger challenge for us to maintain funding to keep providing the excellent service to our communities. We'd love it if you could help by donating just £2 a month to keep Nova all over.
